(From Warner Bros.)The set-up for Getaway is exceedingly simple. Ethan Hawke is a former racecar driver. His wife is taken hostage. Hawke is forced, upon threat of her death, to steal stuff, including Selena Gomez's car, and (later) Selena Gomez. Cue chase scenes. Cue explosions. Cue power-sliding 180s that laugh in the face of physics. But it looks stylistically fun, and if Ethan Hawke's last movie, The Purge, proved anything, it's that Ethan Hawke can carry a straight-forward genre film to a big box office opening.
